Will it fit my Milwaukee M12 drill/driver?
Yes. we have recently added an adapter for GEN 2&3 drill/drivers. We have provided an adapter for GEN 1 M12s from the beginning. Some of our M12 customers with the original M2.5 mounting screw had issues with loosening and also with the #1 Phillips head stripping out. We now provide an M2.5 screw custom-made for Nöhlster Clip customers. The new custom screw has a shoulder for a better fit in the hole, a larger diameter head, and a #2 Phillips drive. Please reach out to us If you previously purchased a Nöhlster Clip and need the upgraded M2.5mm screw. We will send replacements free of charge in the USA*. How do I know it will work with my tool?
If your tool has a threaded hole to secure a belt hook it will most likely work. If you don’t have a hole to secure a belt hook on your drill/driver, there are ways, and you should consider those ways carefully. Check out our mounting tips and tricks videos. Your purchase is Risk-Free, even if you attempt to mount the product to your tool or the product shows signs of use. If you are unsatisfied with your product for any reason, you may return it within 30 days from the date of purchase for a full refund. We only ask that you return the product with all adapters and accessories that it came with.
How do bits stay in the bit holder?
The GroovNüb Bit Holder is designed exclusively for bits with a groove. Each bit cavity has 3 internal nubs to work with most ¼” hexagonal shanks with a groove. Bits with a groove are held in by the nubs which protrude into your bit’s grooves. We recommend using bits that are under 3”. Smaller 1” bits that don’t have grooves can be pushed into the bit cavities but will be vulnerable to slippage due to heat, cold, and vibration. 1” bits are more suited to magnetic bit holders which can be mounted to the mounting hole on the opposite side.
Are GroovNüb Bit Holders replaceable?
Absolutely! They are made of rubber and built to take the abuse of the job. Because they’re a wear item, we made them easy and economical to replace. We offer replacement bit holders in packs of 3. No special tools are needed and you don’t need to worry about surface preparation and double-sided tape coming off. Do Nöhlster Locking Clips come with a mounting adapter for my drill/impact driver?
Yes. Each clip comes with an M12 Gen 1 adapter, an M12 Gen 2/3 adapter and a universal mounting adapter for tools with a rubber over mold surrounding the mounting hole. The universal adapter will provide a firm stable platform for mounting the Nöhlster clip. If you need to trim the universal adapter to make it work for your particular drill/driver it is easy to do so with nippers. See our mounting tips and tricks videos for details. . Mounting surfaces that are firm (rigid plastic or metal) don’t need an adapter. The teeth of the Nöhlster clip alone will grip firmly and prevent any rotation. My Makita has an offset mounting hole and a rubber over-mold. Will Nöhlster work for Makita?
The universal adapter will work with most 12v Makitas without modification. With most 18v Makitas, you must typically first decide what side of your 18v drill you want to mount. Then you will trim some material off the appropriate corner of the universal mounting adapter. See our mounting tips and tricks videos for details. If you trim an adapter incorrectly or need a new one, contact us and we will send replacements free of charge*. Customers outside USA only pay shipping cost.
My mounting adapter cracked. What can you do?
A small number of customers have experienced this issue. It may have just been from a bad production run but we have switched to a much more durable nylon material for our adapters moving forward. Please reach out to us If you previously purchased a Nöhlster Clip and need a new adapter. We will send replacements free of charge in the USA*. Customers outside USA pay shipping, customs, and duties if applicable.
Will the clip work with yoga pants, sweatpants, joggers or trackies?
Ahh, well….we’re not sure about that! The Nohlster locking clip was designed to work with nearly anything including pant pockets, pant belts, tool belts, tool vests, and straps of many kinds. You will probably end up compromised if your lightweight stretchy pants don’t have a belt. If your pants do have a belt, or you can wear one around your waist over lightweight pants or shorts, you might consider our Arc-Ring Belt Anchors (hyperlink to ARBA) to protect your pants from fraying.
My tool doesn’t have a mounting hole for a belt hook. Are there other ways to mount Nöhlster clips to a tool?
While we cannot make any guarantees regarding your safety or the integrity of your particular tool there are many ways to mount Nöhlster Locking Clips. Some drills may have an area where you can pre-drill and use an appropriately designed screw for the material that you are mounting to. Another effective way to mount Nöhlster clips is to use 8 or 10mm wide hose clamps of appropriate diameter and clamp the clip to a cylindrical spot on the tool. Refer to our mounting tips and tricks videos (hyperlink here) and proceed carefully at your own risk.
Will the screw from my original belt hook work with Nöhlster?
Most likely, yes. We provide a kit of 7 screws (with nyloc patch) to fit nearly every brand. The screws that we provide are about 1/8” (2mm) longer than the screw that came with your original belt hook to make up for the added thickness of the Nöhlster Clip and adapter (if an adapter is required). If you find your original screw to be long enough, we recommend adding a drop of blue (not red!) Loctite to keep the screw tight and prevent clip rotation.
Do you accept returns?
Absolutely. We stand behind our products and want you to try our products without any risk. We trust that you’ll give our products an honest go on the job and allow muscle memory to kick in before returning them. Signs of product use are honored and expected. If you are unsatisfied with your product for any reason, you may return it within 30 days from the date of purchase for a full refund. We only ask that you return the product with all adapters and accessories that it came with.
What is the warranty for the Nöhlster Clip?
Nöhlster Clips come with a limited 1-year warranty with proof of purchase but be sure to register your products to get a lifetime warranty. Important
Remove battery prior to screw installation. Use care and judgment to choose a screw length that will not interfere with the battery. Tighten screw periodically if it becomes loose from heavy use. (Loctite® blue (not red) is recommended.)
Clip Installation
Mounting screws are provided. Refer to the screw chart to choose the right screw for your tool. We have added 1/16” (2mm) to make up for the added thickness of the NÖHLSTER clip.
Two adapter plates are included.
1. The Universal Adapter will prevent clip rotation for brands that have a rubber overmold around the screw hole (DeWalt, Makita, Bosch). If the adapter doesn’t fit your tool’s anti-rotation slot(s) perfectly, the adapter can be trimmed by using nippers (or a similar cutting tool) to create a perfect fit for your application.
2. The M12 Adapter works for some versions of the Milwaukee M12 (GEN1 M12s)

Rotate into place
Seat the shoulders of the bit holder to the spring clip
Follow the steps above in reverse order to remove bit holder
